Ready to swim with sea lions around this enchanted island?
The adventure begins early in the morning sailing from Puerto Ayora to Santa Fe Island, a journey of approximately 90 minutes takes you to the first site of visit, Barrington Bay, here you will disembark to start with the walk along the trails of the island.
Barrington Bay is located at the northeast end of Santa Fe Island, in a setting of turquoise waters with two white sand beaches and one of the largest colonies of sea lions of the archipelago which are resting and living their day-by-day naturally in paradise.
Santa Fe Island hosts an endemic species of iguana, the Santa Fe land iguana can only be observed on this island and is clearly larger, paler in color but with a biology very similar to the other species of land iguana. The vegetation of the island can be easily identified with the presence of the giant Opuntia cacti found around the trail. Almost at the end of the tour visitors will pass near a cliff where you can see the bay and with great luck the Galapagos hawk and the rare Heller Escalesia.
After the exploratory walk on the trail, you will go directly to the boat to enjoy snacks and refreshing drinks, preparing little by little for snorkeling. This activity takes place within the Bay of Santa Fe or at Playa Escondida, where we can observe a lot of activity of reef fish, sea lions, turtles, sharks and rays of different species, all this thanks to the wonderful marine life that Galapagos offers. The snorkeling tour lasts approximately 50 minutes, and it is always recommended to follow the final instructions of the guide in charge.
To finish the tour, we return to the boat and while sharing the stories of recent activities you will serve a delicious lunch freshly prepared by the crew, always considering the food preferences of all passengers. The return trip to Santa Cruz Island begins.
