CHATHAM ROUTE
San Cristóbal has a number of sites that are easily accesed by land. Just past the Cerro San Joaquin trail junction is Laguna El Junco, one of the premanent freshwater lake in Galapagos. Beyond El Junco the road heads east and south to La Galapaguera a large walled enclosure built to provide a secure location for the San Cristobal Tortoise. Not far beyond La Galapaguera you come to the end of the road, at Puero Chino. This small, sheltered bay on the south side is a popular swimming and snorkelling spot.

Passengers will be picked up by their hotel at 8am to begin the journey to Laguna del Junco. It is worth mentioning that this is one of the few freshwater lagoons in the Galapagos Islands, it is fed only by rainwater.
In this site there is a 45-minute walk starting with a staircase of wood and recycled plastic, then passing to a dirt road that will take us to the edge of the lagoon. If the weather allows it, we can observe a great panoramic view.
After the hike, the explorers will be transported to the Galapaguera, the Land Turtle Breeding Center 20 minutes away by car. Here you will take a walk along the path of nine hundred meters and through the vegetation you can see the area where giant tortoises are in a natural state.
We will return to the transport to continue with the journey to the last stop: Puerto Chino. Upon arrival we will find a path full of trees, shrubs, and cacti where you can observe Darwin's finches in their natural interaction. At the end of the trail, we will arrive at a magical beach of fine white sand where we will enjoy a moment of beach and recreation.
After 4 hours of all the activities conducted, we will be back at the main port where the private transport will leave the explorers in their respective hotels.
