BARTOLOME ISLAND
This is the classic beauty spot of the Galapagos Islands. The view from the top of the island and the volcanic landscape is spectacular. Pinnacle Rock is the eroded remains of a tuff cone. A small submerged crater can be seen just offshore. To the east there are a series of small spatter cones. Snorkeling is excellent close to Pinnacle Rock. A trail leads across a sandy isthmus to a sandy beach on the south side.

Ready to visit one of the 10 most beautiful islands in the world?
Early in the morning you will be transported from Puerto Ayora to the Itabaca Canal where you will take the boat that will take you to this unforgettable adventure. The navigation is approximately 2 hours to the first point of visit.
Once you arrive to the island, the explorers disembark at the pier located on Bartolomé Island where the hike to the Island Lighthouse begins along a wooden path that has about 372 steps to the top, where you can observe what may be the most famous landscape of Galapagos.
Bartholome Island is considered one of the main sites where you can spot a colony of penguins of the species Spheniscus Mendiculus, the same ones that nest in the small bay and at the back of the Pinnacle. The Tower or Pinnacle, between the two beaches, is part of a tuff cone, this type of cones is formed by volcanic ash sedimented over the years. Geologically speaking, Bartholome is one of the juvenile islands due to its location and the characteristics that presents.
It is an ideal place to observe plants called pioneers of these islands such as Tiquilia nesiótica, Tiquila fusca and Chamaesyce spp.
After an exploratory walk, you return aboard the boat to recharge energy with some snacks and refreshing drinks. The next activity consists of a panga ride around the famous Pinnacle in search of more marine life.
After the tour you will have time to snorkel in a safe place where you can normally observe a lot of underwater life such as rays, turtles, sharks, eels, sea star, and more reef fish, etc.
Finally, we have the navigation back to Santa Cruz Island, where sometimes we can see dolphins and other species on the way.
