OFF THE BEATEN PATH WITH THIS GUIDED NATURE PROGRAM
The journey begins by departing from Playa de los Alemanes, passing through a beautiful channel next to the locally known: islet "Iguana". An abundance of reef life can be seen from the surface. Along the route, you'll reach Punta Estrada, where participants will have the opportunity to see blue-footed boobies, lava gulls, pelicans, frigates, Galápagos shearwaters, and red-billed tropicbirds that visit seasonally.
Next, you'll follow the coastal profile to reach one of the iconic sites of this route, "El Canal del Amor" (Channel of Love). This place is worthy of admiration due to its colorful landscape! Upon arrival, the water color changes to a unique turquoise, surrounded by volcanic stone walls on both sides, vegetation, and the sky – creating a unique setting in the islands. Wildlife is also present, making it easy to spot night herons, lava herons, juvenile black-tip sharks, schools of needlefish, and more.
The journey continues towards the mangroves bordering Bahía Franklin, a preferred spot for sea turtles, sharks, and marine birds for feeding. With luck, you can witness this behavior while drifting along the bay's gentle current. You'll visit a family of sea lions inhabiting the area and witness the natural behavior of these delightful mammals.
The program wouldn't be complete without a good snorkeling session. This activity complements the adventure and takes place in the channel of the islet "Iguana," where an optimal spot will be sought to anchor the kayaks and enter the water in a controlled manner. A wide variety of marine life welcomes you: sea cucumbers, pencil urchins, turtles, surgeonfish, damselfish, parrotfish, rainbow fish, and much more.
